Why you'd want to live in Crofton
A planned community, Crofton was completed in 1964. It was originally a gated community located within the Crofton Parkway loop. The gates have since opened and now serve as a symbol that Crofton is an open community. However, Crofton Parkway still encloses the center and now hosts several events every year, including some annual parades. The 3.5-mile track is also a favorite place for walking, biking, and jogging. Crofton remains small, with a population of a little over 27,000 and covering 6.6 square miles. To the southwest of Crofton is the Little Patuxent River, which separates Anne Arundel from Prince Georges county. Crofton is made up of a number of small neighborhoods, including Crofton Town Center, Crofton Meadows, Conaways, and Nantucket Mews. Most people use their own transport, but there is a bus line for commuters to reach the metro station in New Carrolton. In addition to the Amtrak and Greyhound lines in New Carrolton, there is a commuter train to reach Penn Station in Baltimore and Union Station in Washington D.C. via croftoncommunity.org
